Employment
Tess provides support to individuals and small groups that face significant barriers in finding a route to work. Our support includes:
- work experience, which provides an excellent opportunity for our customers to make informed decisions about where they want to work and what they want to do, be it paid or voluntary;
- job coaching support in the workplace
- providing our customers with a route to employment, with strong leads in catering, horticulture, and cleaning services etc;
- support to complete application forms;
- support through preparation for and attendance at job interviews;
- supporting preparations for the first day of work, such as creating safe travel arrangements including training and familiarisation with routes and timetables; support through induction processes; and
- we also support individuals to become self-employed.
Not only do we have our own projects, for example the Community Café, our Personal Coaches support customers to work in the wider community. Our job coaching is available for voluntary or paid employment. Some customers require job coaching for the duration of their employment where others will need us for a short while until they are used to the routine or know what is expected from them in a workplace environment.
We work alongside employers assessing the workplace to ensure it is a safe environment. We can suggest amendments and adaptations where necessary to enable the customer as much as possible in their workplace.
We can support customers to attend work reviews/appraisals and also communicate on a customers’ behalf with their workplace if this is needed.
